Bringing scholarly perspectives to our most pressing issues.
We aim to fight poverty and restore dignity through scholarship supporting faith, freedom, and personal responsibility.
Upholding the values of freedom and dignity.
The God-given freedom and dignity of every person is taught in Christian theology, reaffirmed by the American Founders, and implied in an economic system that emphasizes liberty and personal responsibility. This is why we identify Christianity, the Constitution, and capitalism as key safeguards of the sacredness of the individual.
Founding
Star Parker is one of the names on the short list mentioned when anyone speaks of national black conservative leaders. Star Parker is the founder and president of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE), a public policy think tank that promotes market-based solutions to fight poverty. Before involvement in social activism, Star had seven years of first-hand experience in the grip of welfare dependency. After consulting on federal Welfare Reform in the mid-90s, she founded CURE to bring new ideas to policy discussions on how to transition America's poor from government dependency.
